Graduation Rates by Sector
On-time Graduation Rates Are Too Low
- Across all two-year institutions, only 21.7% students complete their two-year degree program in two years.
- Only 40.25% of students complete a four-year degree program in four years. This figure only includes first-time, full-time students; it excludes all part-time and transfer students.
Sector Graduation Insight
- Four-year for-profit institutions have lower 150% of normal time graduation rates (28%) than either private not-for-profits (67%) or public institutions (67%) or public institutions (63%) but serve a higher percentage of low-income students.
- Public two-year institutions have lower 150% graduation rates (29%) than either private not-for-profits (54.6%) or for-profit institutions (48%) but have open-enrollment policies mandated by the state and are not able to include students who transfer out and graduate from another institution in their reporting.
